For Mac, I recommend Easydict + PopCilp, an out-of-the-box convergent translator that supports word search and paragraph translation, and PopCilp, a word processor that expands Easydict by allowing you to pop up the PopCilp plugin after selecting content anywhere. PopCilp is a word processing tool that expands Easydict by allowing you to jump out of the Easydict window with the PopCilp plugin after selecting content anywhere.

This solution, look up a single word, sentence translation, translation of paragraphs (when reading an article, do not translate the full text, generally on the translation of a paragraph against the understanding of the paragraph) aggregated together, with a tool to complete all the tasks without feeling.

Compared to the previous word search may open the Oulu dictionary, translate sentences and paragraphs may open Google Translate, in a variety of software switching is very troublesome.

Theoretically only need to have this set of word search program can be perfect to deal with all the English learning, reading needs. Installation

Mouse Translation: Click on the icon

Type translation: bring up the word search window, ⌥ + A

Silent Screenshot OCR: ⌥ + ⇧ + S to take a screenshot of the OCR and automatically save it to the clipboard

Use with PopClip

Install PopClip Plugin

You need to install PopClip first, then check the following code block, PopClip will show "Install Extension Easydict", just click it.

Using

After the configuration plugin is enabled in PopClip, select the text to pop up the icon and click on it.

🍎 Apple System Dictionary

Easydict automatically supports the dictionaries that come with the system in the Dictionary App, such as Oxford English-Chinese-Chinese-English Dictionary (Simplified Chinese-English), Modern Chinese Standardized Dictionary (Simplified Chinese), etc. Simply enable the corresponding dictionaries in the Dictionary App settings page.

iPad

On iPad, use Oulu Dictionary to look up words in split screen or small window.

Mobile

On mobile, there are very few cases where you need to translate, you can choose any translation software, such as Youdao Dictionary, Baidu Translate, etc..

However, in order to maintain the uniformity of the word search results, it is recommended to use a unified translation software, such as the blogger's unified use of Oulu Dictionary on all platforms.

Supplementary Windows

Windows system computer, blogger, mainly used in the development of hardware workstation opportunities, the use of frequency and requirements are not high, almost never read English literature on the Windows platform, so the use of a very simple and brutal program - uTools.

Discovery Process

In the process of exploring this word search solution, I have tried Salad Search and Pot. Salad Search can aggregate search results from multiple dictionaries, but it's not very convenient to use, and Pot can automatically translate paragraphs, but it lacks the ability to search for individual words. In the end, I found the ideal solution in the combination of Easydict + Popcilp and Oulu Dictionary.
